Native American Ministry

The Native American Ministries office is a ministry of the Episcopal Church whose mission is:

  • Defining role of Native people within ECUSA, underscoring self-determining and diverse traditional Native spirituality and values
  • Providing cross-cultural communication for cultural understanding, remembrance, recognition and reconciliation
  • Responding to poverty status of many Native communities and congregations; to anguish of disoriented youth and dysfunctional families often living in isolation and abandoned by the Church
  • Enabling legislative advocacy on unique Indian Treaty Rights
  • Building new models of indigenous theological training because existing models are proving ineffective
  • Expanding vision by networking globally, linking with and learning from indigenous Anglicans of the Pacific Rim
