Clergy Sabbaticals

Sabbatical Planning

A Sabbatical offers the opportunity to revitalize and gain new perspective with "holy play.' "Without a vision, the people perish" are important words from Proverbs 29:18 for clergy and congregations.

Sabbaticals stimulate spiritual, personal and intellectual growth for clergy person and flock. They build mutual ministry, interdependence and renewal of Hope and Vision.

The Rev. Dr. A. Richard Bullock (Rick) works by designing your sabbatical with you, your congregation, or a diocesan workshop on funding and resources, benefits for clergy and congregation, staffing in your absence, who's in charge of what, questions of exit and re-entry and bringing your dream to reality in your sabbatical plan.

A new book by The Revs. Rick Bullock and Richard J. Bruesehoff, Clergy Renewal: The Alban Guide to Sabbatical Planning, (Bethesda, Md.), is the new standard for your planning.

Fr. Rick Bullock also works with Mutual Ministry Review for clergy and congregations, staff, organizations and dioceses. Contact him at CMYMTN, Inc. 503-658-6871 or email cmymtn@home.com.

Additional excellent sabbatical resources are: On Pilgrimage, Douglas C. The Lilly Endowment invites applications for the National Clergy Renewal Program intended to strengthen congregations by providing an opportunity for pastors to step away from the demands of daily parish life and to engage in a period of renewal. Grants up to $30K may be awarded for sabbatical study. Contact Lilly at 317-916-7302 or email: clergyrenewal@yahoo.com
