All things look to you, O Lord
to give them their food in due season:
Look in mercy on all your people
and hear our prayer for those whose lives
are devastated through the horrors of earthquakes.
In your mercy restore the tranquillity of creation,
so that your people may once again enjoy
the good fruits of the earth and give thanks with
grateful hearts, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
God of all power and might,
who supports all people with your love and care.
Graciously aid us in this time of danger and upheaval.
Bear us through our doubts of understanding,
to strengthen our resolve, and to face uncertain times ahead.
Grant us your wisdom to support our frail natures
to be your caring children amongst so much unbelief.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
From the depths of my despair I call to you O
Hear my cry, O Lord: listen to my call for help.
Lord, great is the misery that has come upon this land
Our cares would overcome us,
We donít know what to do.
Let the light of faith dispel our fear and grief,
to bring us once again to that thankfulness of knowing you
as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
I asked the Lord for a bunch of fresh flowers
but instead he gave me an ugly cactus with many thorns.
I asked the Lord for some beautiful butterflies but instead he gave
me many ugly worms. I was threatened, and disappointed, I mourned.
But after many days suddenly, I saw the cactus bloom
with many beautiful flowers, and those worms became butterflies,
flying in the spring wind. Godís way is the best way.
